The aim of this work is to describe the aspects of the monumental while gaining comprehensive knowledge about its underlying mechanisms. The systemization of the principals of monumentality enables an integration into the design process. Applied monumentality generates a specific environment for the individual and has far reaching consequences on a sociological and psychological level.
